Conference Speakers


Cindy C. Martin, MSN, RN, IBCLC, CKC 

Cindy is currently the Education Specialist Coordinator and Fetal Infant Mortality Review Coordinator for the Sarasota Healthy Start Coalition in Sarasota, FL. She has also worked as a Lactation consultant in the NICU, Maternal-Child and Pediatric setting and is a childbirth educator. Cindy maintains numerous certifications and has many radio, television and publication credits throughout her career. She has presented both nationally and internationally for many years in areas from lactation, kangaroo care, to becoming baby friendly.  


Barbara J. Quissell, M.D. 

Dr. Quissell is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and is married with three children. Her academic positions include Clinical Instructor, Pediatrics, University of Colorado, Denver Children’s Hospital Assistant Clinical Professor Pediatrics and Clinical Instructor, Assistant Clinical Professor, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. July 2, 2008-present, Director, Neonatal Transport, Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, January, 2000-present, Director of Outreach, Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. Committee Memberships: Quality Assurance and Medical Research, The Children’s Hospital. The Kempe Center Research Board, Development Committee for the Aurora/The Children’s Hospital. Dr. Quissell has participated in numerous research projects and publications and has received honors from multiple organizations. 
 

Monty G. Miller, EdD, MBA 

Monty G. Miller is the owner of International Performance Solutions, Ltd., a consulting practice that engages in training, development and organizational change. He conducts his practice in the Americas, Asia and Europe. Monty has a doctorate in Organizational Change from Pepperdine University, an MBA and Bachelors of Science from Colorado State University. He has presented dynamic training to nurses and management at AWHONN and Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. He is an adjunct faculty member at Colorado Technical University in their Advanced Studies. Much of his practice involves building high performance organizations through the enhancement of individual leader’s competencies. Monty resides in Estes Park, Colorado. 
 

Joe V. Toney, M.D. 

Dr. Toney is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and Stanford University School of Medicine. He is Board certified in Neonatology and has served as the Medical Director of the Nurseries at St. Anthony Hospital North, Rose Medical Center, and currently is the medical director at Sky Ridge Medical Center Nurseries. He has been the Medical Director for Pediatrix Medical Group of Colorado, Inc. from February, 2000-present. 
Dr. Toney is a Fellow, American Academy of Pediatrics and a past
Chairman of the Colorado Perinatal Care Council. 


Gini Taylor, M.D. 

Dr. Taylor is a pediatrician at Children’s Medical Center. She is a member of the clinical faculty of The Children’s Hospital and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. At the request of conference participants, Gini returns annually to provide updates on topics of importance for newborn nurses.
